How do you treat optic neuritis? - neuritis

I lost my left eye and was diagnosed with optic neuritis. I had an MRI ruled out MS, a tumor or cyst and directly to a specialist Wednesday. I do not have much information on how to treat this condition, and if my vision back. Does anyone know this condition? Advice or reference material? Is there anything I can do to speed recovery of vision?
